ECS CARDS plus H&S
ECS Cards and Health & Safety
The Installation Electrician ECS gold card is for NVQ Level 3 skilled individuals who work unsupervised on the installation, commissioning and maintenance of low voltage electrical and electronic devices and appliances in a consumer’s electrical installation.
You can now get an ECS gold card if you’ve got many years experience in the electrical industry, but you haven’t completed an apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3.
The gold card shows that the cardholder has completed a formal industry regulated competency-based qualification, which includes technical theory with practical and competency assessments.
From 1st January 2019 applicants for this card will need to hold BS7671:2018 and also to sign-up to become a Registered Electrician.
Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment
You must have an up-to-date health and safety qualification to be awarded with an ECS card. It’s designed to prevent accidents and promote safety and quality of work, to ensure all cardholders have a good level of health and safety awareness when on site.
The ECS H&S Assessment pass is valid for 2 years. The ECS test is specifically designed for health and safety relating to electrotechnical workers.
